WHAT'S NEW IN V-RAY 5.0

Photorealistic rendering and real-time visualisation - all in one - all in SketchUp.
What's new in V-Ray for Sketchup Version 5.0

V-Ray 5 lets you explore your designs in real-time, make interactive changes and quick design decisions. Try hundreds of lighting variations on your scene and apply finishing touches on your renders directly in SketchUp. From beginner to pro, V-Ray 5 has all the tools you need to visualise your SketchUp projects.

Visualise designs in real-time.
Now with V-Ray Vision, you can visualise your designs in real-time while you work in SketchUp. Move around your model, apply materials, set up lights and cameras – all in a live real-time view of your scene. And when you’re ready for photo quality renders, V-Ray is ready to go.
Lighting made easy.

Adjust the lights in your scene during or after rendering. With the new Light Mix render element in V-Ray 5.0 you can interactively adjust the color and brightness of any light in your scene – without having to render it again.

Add randomness for realism.

To create more realistic materials, we’ve added new tools that randomise textures and colors. The VRayUVWRandomiser lets you randomise texture coordinates and automatically fixes repeating textures.

Improved Sun and Sky model.

Render your scene at the perfect light of magic hour. The Improved Sun & Sky model is more accurate, with a better looking sunrise and sunset, even as the sun dips below the horizon.

See your designs in their best light.

Light Gen is a new V-Ray tool that automatically generates preview images of your SketchUp scene in a number of different lighting enviroment scenarios. Choose your favorite look and you’re ready to render.

New software architecture.

With V-Ray 5.0 the core code has been rewritten with a focus on speed & perfomance.  This is our fastest and best rendering experience yet. Scenes now load and export much faster thanks to the newly refactored V-Ray backend.

v-ray-banner_3
Dirt and weathering.

Give your SketchUp models a weathered look with the improved V-Ray Dirt texture. Add dirt and streaks anywhere – in corners or across entire surfaces.

v-ray-banner_5
New layered V-Ray material.

The V-Ray Material now includes built-in Coat and Sheen layers. Coat makes it easy to create materials with reflective coatings like varnished wood, while Sheen can be used for fabrics like silk, satin, and velvet.

Post-process your renders right in V-Ray.

V-Ray 5 features a new V-Ray Frame Buffer. With built-in compositing, you can make color corrections, combine render elements and save them as presets to be used in future – all without needing a separate app like Nuke/Photoshop.

WHY USE V-RAY?

Today AEC and arch-vis firms face heightened competition – and the software tools you choose are critical to your success.
With V-Ray for SketchUp, architects can set up projects and complete realistic imagery quickly. The real-time rendering
capabilities of V-Ray allow for a more visual workflow at each production stage — from concept to final rendered image or
animation. This makes it easier to gain critical buy-in from colleagues and clients.

The demand for high-end, photorealistic content has skyrocketed, requiring AEC and arch-vis firms to create high-quality stills, animation and VR on limited budgets. V-Ray for SketchUp optimises rendering performance and workflows, so users can work efficiently and produce extraordinary results.

To help combat tight schedules and frequent deadlines, V-Ray for SketchUp helps architects render great-looking images
quickly and easily. Real-time viewing of their model is appreciated for speeding their V-Ray workflow as well as their modeling
workflow. V-Ray for SketchUp also removes the need to export to a separate application for rendering, letting users work
directly in SketchUp so they can visualise changes to their designs interactively.

V-Ray for SketchUp’s simple settings make it fast to set up without any special training. The interface is intuitive, with straightforward rendering presets that anyone can use. Users of V-Ray for other platforms will find the transition to V-Ray for SketchUp quick and easy. In addition, Professional CAD Systems provides free technical support to all V-Ray subscribers.
