Two models, one large-part platform
Both MAX models share the 38-line blue laser engine, on-tool display and wireless design. The Elite doubles the accuracy for large-part work with tighter tolerances.

Why large-part teams choose the MAX
Built for the jobs that don't fit on a bench
A wide scanning area and 38 blue laser lines cover big surfaces fast, while the self-positioning platform stays accurate in workshop conditions - vibration, ambient light and all.
Big surfaces captured in fewer passes, at 2,250,000 measurements per second.
ISO 17025 accredited calibration carried out to the range's ISO 10360 basis.
Self-positioning capture that tolerates vibration and changing light.
Walk the part - no cable run across a workshop floor.

The EVO interface, on a large-part scanner
The MAX carries the same on-tool display as the EVO Series: live mesh, scanning parameters and completeness checks in front of you as you move around the part, not back at a laptop.
Live guidance, parameters and data validation on the scanner itself.
Camera and laser settings adapt to difficult finishes on the fly.
Coverage and completeness confirmed before you leave the part.
Operators follow on-tool guidance rather than a manual.
Heavy industry is the home ground
Aerospace, transport and heavy equipment teams use the MAX Series for inspection, reverse engineering and NDT on structures that never see a lab.

Applications
What teams use it for

Quality control
Dimensional inspection of large fabrications, fixtures and assemblies.

Reverse engineering
Capture large legacy components and turn them into workable CAD.

NDT and asset integrity
Surface damage assessment on vessels, pipes and structural members.

Heavy equipment
Buckets, attachments and wear parts measured in the field.

Creaform.OS runs the show
Every MAX ships with Creaform.OS, the operating software behind the whole FARO | CREAFORM range. Smart resolution, automatic shutter, live mesh visualisation and mesh enhancement all happen during acquisition, so what leaves the scanner is already usable.

HandySCAN 3D BLACK Series
Metrology-grade portable 3D scanners.

The HandySCAN BLACK Elite is the scanner that defined portable metrology-grade measurement. Accurate to 0.025 mm, self-positioning, and just as dependable on the shop floor as in the lab.

HandySCAN 3D PRO Series
Proven and trusted professional-grade 3D scanners.

The HandySCAN 3D PRO Series delivers the proven HandySCAN platform at its best value point - 0.030 mm accuracy, fine detail, and the fastest path from physical part to usable CAD.
- Accuracy
- 0.030 mm · 0.0012 in
- Resolution
- 0.025 mm

MetraSCAN 3D
Total inspection flexibility, built on ISO-certified accuracy.

MetraSCAN 3D pairs a handheld scanner with the C-Track optical tracker, so parts are measured where they're made - at CMM-level accuracy, unaffected by vibration, movement or workshop conditions.

Go!SCAN 3D
White light portable 3D scanner.

The Go!SCAN SPARK is the point-and-shoot of the FARO | CREAFORM range - full-colour white light scanning with no setup, no targets on most parts, and results in minutes rather than hours.
- Accuracy
- Up to 0.050 mm · 0.0020 in
- Resolution

Add-ons
Round out the kit

MaxSHOT 3D
Optical coordinate measuring for large parts. Photogrammetry that tightens volumetric accuracy on big scans - the natural partner for MAX-scale work.

AESUB scanning spray
Sublimating spray for the surfaces that resist scanning. It disappears on its own, with no cleanup.
Services and support
Backed locally, not from a call centre
3D scanning services
Need parts scanned rather than a scanner? We scan NZ-wide, on site.

Frequently asked questions
What size parts is the MAX Series for?
Large parts and assemblies - the buckets, frames, hulls, vessels and structures that overwhelm a standard handheld's working volume. For benchtop and mid-size parts, the EVO or BLACK series measure tighter; we'll help you match the scanner to your part sizes.
Which MAX model should I choose?
Both share the same speed and platform. The MAX EVO measures to 0.150 mm; the MAX EVO Elite doubles that to 0.075 mm with tighter volumetric accuracy. If your large-part tolerances are dimensional rather than visual, the Elite usually pays for itself.
How does it stay accurate over really big parts?
Volumetric accuracy is quoted per metre and the platform self-positions on targets across the part. For very large jobs, pairing the MAX with MaxSHOT 3D photogrammetry tightens volumetric accuracy further across the whole measurement.
Can it work in the field?
That's the point of it. Wireless scanning, an on-tool display and a self-positioning platform that tolerates vibration and changing light mean the MAX works where the part is - workshop, yard or site.
Can I try one before buying?
Yes. We work evaluation-first: tell us about your parts and tolerances and we'll arrange a demonstration or evaluation, ideally against one of your own large parts.
