Licence or subscription - which should I buy?
Same tool either way. The perpetual licence costs more once and never expires; the subscription spreads a lower cost annually. Long-term daily users usually come out ahead on the licence - see Skimp Subscription to compare, or ask us.
Do I need SketchUp Pro to run it?
Yes - extensions run in the SketchUp desktop app, so you need Pro or Studio. Skimp runs on both PC and Mac.
Will simplifying ruin my textures?
No - Skimp preserves materials, UVs and normals through simplification, and keeps your group/component hierarchy.
How does it differ from Transmutr?
Both import and simplify. Transmutr adds render proxies and material conversion for Enscape/V-Ray pipelines; Skimp adds in-model simplification of existing geometry. Render-asset workflows lean Transmutr; general model performance leans Skimp.
Is there a trial?
Yes - a 5-day trial licence is available from the Skimp website, so you can test it on your own models before you buy. Ask us if you want a hand setting it up.
