Why teams move to the EVO series
Inspection results you can defend
Certified accuracy on the shop floor, not just in the lab. The EVO Series self-positions on the part, shrugs off vibration and ambient light, and captures fine detail on challenging surfaces with minimal preparation.
ISO 17025 accredited calibration on an ISO 10360 basis.
Self-positioning and stable in real production environments.
Fine detail captured directly, with clean, usable meshes.
Handles shiny, dark and intricate parts across a wide range of sizes.

See your scan where you're scanning
A built-in touchscreen and augmented reality overlay put the live mesh, scanning parameters and completeness checks right on the tool. Your eyes stay on the part, not on a laptop across the room.
Live guidance, parameters and data validation on the scanner itself.
Watch the mesh build on the part and see deviation colour maps in place.
Photos captured on-tool and linked automatically to the 3D model.
Scans align to CAD automatically, cutting cleanup and repeat setup.
Two decades of handheld metrology behind it
The self-positioning handheld laser scanner has been refined for more than twenty years. The EVO Series is the newest expression of that line.

Trusted by New Zealand engineers
As manual measurement and prototyping became more and more time consuming for us, we decided to take the next step and invest into our companies future with the help of the HandySCAN 3D scanner, Creaform.OS and the Creaform Metrology Suite.
Applications
What teams use it for

Product development
Capture existing parts and prototypes as reference geometry for new designs.

Reverse engineering
Turn legacy and one-off components into clean CAD, ready for manufacture.

Quality control
Dimensional inspection and first-article checks with traceable accuracy.

Research and education
Hands-on metrology for engineering programmes and applied research.

Creaform.OS runs the show
Every EVO ships with Creaform.OS, the operating software behind the whole FARO | CREAFORM range. Smart resolution, automatic shutter, live mesh visualisation, AI target detection and mesh enhancement all happen during acquisition, so what leaves the scanner is already usable.

HandySCAN 3D BLACK Series
Metrology-grade portable 3D scanners.

The HandySCAN BLACK Elite is the scanner that defined portable metrology-grade measurement. Accurate to 0.025 mm, self-positioning, and just as dependable on the shop floor as in the lab.
- Accuracy
- 0.025 mm · 0.0010 in
- Resolution
- 0.025 mm

HandySCAN 3D MAX Series
3D measurement efficiency, scaled for large parts.

The HandySCAN 3D MAX Series takes the EVO platform's on-tool display, wireless capture and ease of use, and scales it to the parts a standard handheld volume can't cover - buckets, frames, vessels and full assemblies.
- Accuracy
- 0.150 mmHandySCAN MAX EVO
- 0.075 mmHandySCAN MAX EVO Elite
- Resolution
- 0.04 mm

HandySCAN 3D PRO Series
Proven and trusted professional-grade 3D scanners.

The HandySCAN 3D PRO Series delivers the proven HandySCAN platform at its best value point - 0.030 mm accuracy, fine detail, and the fastest path from physical part to usable CAD.
- Accuracy
- 0.030 mm · 0.0012 in
- Resolution
- 0.025 mm

MetraSCAN 3D
Total inspection flexibility, built on ISO-certified accuracy.

MetraSCAN 3D pairs a handheld scanner with the C-Track optical tracker, so parts are measured where they're made - at CMM-level accuracy, unaffected by vibration, movement or workshop conditions.
- Accuracy
- 0.035 mmMetraSCAN BLACK+
- 0.025 mmMetraSCAN BLACK+ Elite, MetraSCAN BLACK 2
- Resolution
- 0.025 mm

Go!SCAN 3D
White light portable 3D scanner.

The Go!SCAN SPARK is the point-and-shoot of the FARO | CREAFORM range - full-colour white light scanning with no setup, no targets on most parts, and results in minutes rather than hours.
- Accuracy
- Up to 0.050 mm · 0.0020 in
- Resolution
- 0.100 mm
Add-ons
Round out the kit

MaxSHOT 3D
Optical coordinate measuring for large parts. Photogrammetry that tightens volumetric accuracy on big scans.

AESUB scanning spray
Sublimating spray for the surfaces that resist scanning. It disappears on its own, with no cleanup.
Services and support
Backed locally, not from a call centre
3D scanning services
Need parts scanned rather than a scanner? We scan NZ-wide, on site.
3D scanner hire
Short-term hire with setup guidance and local backup.
Support, maintenance and calibration
Technical helpline, maintenance, calibration, warranty renewals and loaner units, handled from Hamilton.
Technical specifications
Key specifications across the three EVO models. Full datasheets are available on request.

Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between the three EVO models?
All three share the same laser engine, touchscreen and wireless platform. They differ in measurement rate (1.3, 1.8 and 2.8 million measurements per second) and the EVO Elite adds tighter accuracy at 0.020 mm with 0.020 mm/m volumetric. Choose by throughput and the tolerances you need to hold.
Do I need targets or spray to scan?
Positioning targets let the scanner self-position, which is what makes it stable in hand-held use. Most surfaces, including shiny and dark parts, scan without any coating; for the stubborn ones a sublimating spray like AESUB does the job and disappears on its own.
What software is included, and will it work with our CAD?
Creaform.OS is included with every scanner and handles acquisition end to end. Scan data exports to the tools engineering teams already use, including PolyWorks, Geomagic, SOLIDWORKS, CATIA, NX, Creo and Inventor, and FARO | CREAFORM Inspection and Scan-to-CAD modules are available when you want one integrated workflow.
How steep is the learning curve?
Gentler than earlier generations. The on-tool display guides setup and capture, augmented reality shows coverage as you scan, and Professional CAD Systems provides local onboarding and support with every system we supply.
Can I try one before buying?
Yes. We work evaluation-first: tell us about your parts and tolerances and we'll arrange a demonstration or evaluation, and short-term hire is available if you want to prove the workflow on your own jobs first.
