Educator licence FAQs
Who qualifies for the educator licence?
Current teachers, lecturers, instructors and tutors associated with accredited educational institutions can qualify. You do not need to teach design, computing or another SketchUp-related subject.
How do I prove educator status?
Provide current evidence of your teaching role, such as an educator ID or institution-issued documentation. We verify eligibility before the licence is issued.
What software is included?
The suite includes SketchUp for Desktop, Web and iPad, LayOut, Sefaira, PreDesign, Revit Importer, Trimble Connect, 3D Warehouse, Extension Warehouse and supported viewers. V-Ray is not included.
Can I use it for paid design work?
No. The licence covers teaching, course preparation and related professional development. Commercial projects require a standard subscription.
How many computers can I use?
The named-user subscription supports up to two activations using your personal Trimble ID. Deauthorise an old device when you move to a replacement.
What if I need licences for a class or department?
Use individual student licences for students who need the higher-education suite, or ask us about admin-managed university subscriptions and device-based network lab licensing.
Is SketchUp for Schools a better fit for my class?
For primary and secondary schools using Google Workspace for Education or Microsoft Education, the free browser-based SketchUp for Schools app may be enough. Contact us if you need desktop tools, LayOut or institution-managed licensing.
