It works in every supported host application, including SketchUp, Revit, Rhino, 3ds Max, Cinema 4D and Maya. The licence is for learning, not commercial work.

Full V-Ray with the Chaos Cosmos asset library included - physically accurate lighting, materials and cameras, the same workflow you'll use professionally. The student collection also carries Phoenix simulation, Vantage, Anima, Veras AI and 500 Chaos credits.

Education licences are for non-commercial use only. When you finish studying, talk to us about moving to a commercial V-Ray subscription.
V-Ray Educational Licence FAQs
Who qualifies?
Students enrolled at accredited institutions, verified with your student ID - and educators employed full-time or as visiting lecturers at government-accredited institutions qualify too. Teaching staff: talk to us and we will sort the right verification.
How does verification work?
During purchase you upload a clear photo of the front and back of your student ID (4 MB max each). We verify before the licence is issued.
Is it the full version of V-Ray?
Yes - Chaos education licences are full-featured one-year academic licences, covering the same host apps as commercial V-Ray.
Can I use it for paid work?
No - Chaos education licences are strictly for educational use, and any commercial (for-profit) work is outside the terms. Chaos can retroactively charge a misused licence at the full commercial rate, so freelance or paid work needs a commercial subscription - talk to us when that day comes.
Does it renew automatically?
No - it expires one year from purchase, and renewing means re-purchasing and re-submitting your student ID.
Which applications can I render in?
The same list as commercial V-Ray: SketchUp, Revit, Rhino, 3ds Max, Cinema 4D, Maya, Houdini, Nuke and Unreal.
I'm studying with SketchUp - what else do I need?
