Chaos Notification Center integration

  • Chaos Notification Center now provides in-product announcements. Open it from the Help menu, toolbar or Asset Editor.

Node Editor improvements

  • Rendered thumbnail previews for nodes are now available and enabled by default.
  • Node duplication is improved.
  • You can now create in-between textures. Right-click a connection to create an in-between node, or drag and drop a node onto a connection to insert it into the shader.
  • The Displacement material attribute is now supported.
  • A rectangular backdrop behind the Node Editor main menu makes it easier to see over complex graphs.
  • Full and Compact thumbnail modes are now available. Double-click a thumbnail to switch between them.
  • Fixed an issue where deleting a connection to a collapsed material could remove all other connections to that material.
  • You can now configure materials' Viewport Display options in the Node Editor.

Other improvements

  • Cosmos Scanned Materials no longer require a licence check. Editing options are always visible once you import the material.
  • The Export button in the Export V-Ray Scene window is now greyed out during rendering.
  • Light Gen now keeps its interface state when you switch between the Classic and Mood Match tabs.
  • The legacy Dark theme is removed from the UI Color Theme configuration.
  • The info icon in the Displacement material rollout has moved, and its tooltip is improved.
  • The Repeat U/V values for 2D texture placement are now locked by default.
  • The value range limits for Scatter transforms (Translate, Rotate, Scale) are updated.
  • Chaos Cosmos browser loading is optimised.
  • Fixed an issue with loading VFB history images into Veras.
  • Fixed an issue where Quick Caustics disappeared when a Material ID or any other attribute was added to the water material.
  • Fixed an issue where the Log window did not display events.

Integration

  • Scene activation is optimised, especially in heavy projects.
  • Cosmos materials with Displacement are now supported. These materials are coming soon to Cosmos.
  • The Envision icon is removed from the Live Link toolbar.
  • The Ideas Portal link in the V-Ray Help menu now points to the requests section of the Chaos forum.
  • Fixed a viewport preview issue for Scatter objects using an Area modifier.
  • Fixed an issue with the VFB's Vignette layer interface handles when the layer is rotated more than 45 degrees.
  • Fixed an issue where the installer's "Learn more..." link opened the wrong page.
  • Fixed a crash after changing the Gaussian Splat Preview Percentage and disabling or re-enabling the Preview Overlay.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented the License Server from being installed in specific situations.
  • Fixed missing Chinese and Japanese translations on the installer's Licensing page.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented licence configuration during silent installations.
  • Enscape Cosmos asset downloads are improved in specific scenarios.
  • macOS: Improved the behaviour of SketchUp-specific interface elements after V-Ray activation on macOS Tahoe.
  • macOS: Fixed an issue where the viewport turned black after stopping Vision with the V-Ray Render overlay enabled.
  • macOS: Fixed a crash when closing the VFB after signing in to a Chaos account.
  • macOS: Fixed an issue with Proxy Mesh and Proxy Scene export.
