This page provides details about the Mix texture in Chaos Vantage.

Overview

The Mix texture mixes two colors or textures using a texture map or a solid color value. The example shown here uses a Cellular texture as the Mix Map with Source A set to Red and Source B set to Blue.

Mix

Color 1 – Specifies the first color. A texture can be used instead.

Color 2 – Specifies the second color. A texture can be used instead.

Mix amount – Controls the strength of the mix between Color 1 and Color 2. See the Mix Amount examples below.

Use curve – When enabled, a curve is used to sharpen or smooth the mix between the two colors/textures.

Transition upper – Available when Use curve is enabled. Controls how gradual or how sharp the transition between the two colors is for the dark areas of the Mix Map.

Transition lower – Available when Use curve is enabled. Controls how gradual or how sharp the transition between the two colors is for the bright areas of the Mix Map. Any brightness value above this on the Mix Map displays Color 1.

For information about the parameters in the Common and Mapping Properties tab, see the Textures page.

Examples

The following examples demonstrate the effect that individual Mix Texture parameters have on the scene. Click on any image to view it at a higher resolution.

Example: Mix Amount

The diffuse component of the material is tweaked with the Mix amount parameter. Color 1 is a blue color, while Color 2 is a texture with the same blue color and a black logo. The Mix amount parameter controls the mixture of Color 1 and 2.
