Overview

The Convert Materials tool allows you to convert supported Cycles Shader nodes to V-Ray nodes. This applies to the entire scene. For a full list of supported Cycles nodes, see the Cycles Shader Nodes page.

UI Path: ||V-Ray menu|| > Tools > Convert Materials

Workflow

This tool does all the work for you, you only need to start it.

  1. Set the Render Engine to V-Ray in the Render Properties tab.
  2. Navigate to the V-Ray menu in the top toolbar and scroll down to Tools and click on Convert Materials.
  3. A popup window appears informing you that "If there are V-Ray nodes in any Cycles material tree they will be deleted before the conversion". Click on OK to initiate the conversion.
  4. Then, switch the editor at the bottom to the V-Ray Node Editor. Make sure it is set to the Shader node tree.
  5. Navigate around the editor to find the converted nodes, they might be positioned off-center.
  6. You can now render with the V-Ray engine and the materials will have the same properties as the originals.
