AI Assistant

The AI Assistant () brings access to AI-powered workflows without leaving SketchUp. To get started with AI Assistant, open SketchUp AI () and select AI Assistant or from the menu by selecting Extensions > AI Assistant.

The AI Assistant ( icon-ai-assistant.png ) brings access to AI-powered workflows without leaving SketchUp. To get started with AI Assistant, open SketchUp AI ( icon-sketchup-ai.png ) and select AI Assistant or from the menu by selecting Extensions > AI Assistant .

AI Assistant offers a few different ways to bring AI into your workflow:

  • Help ( icon-question-mark.png ) – Ask questions about tools, best practices, or even complex workflows and get in-app guidance.
  • Generate Object ( icon-ai-generate-object.png ) – Enter text prompts or provide your own image and add prompts to create 3D objects with photoreal materials.
    • After generating an object, your output saves to the AI Assistant Gallery ( icon-ai-assistant-gallery.png ).
  • Click Credits ( icon-ai-credits.png ) to check the balance of your SketchUp AI Credits .

3D Printing a Model

Before you print a model on a 3D printer, you need to make sure your 3D printer can understand your model data. Here's a quick overview of how to set up your SketchUp model for 3D printing:

Adding an Environment to a Model

Environments allow you to add 360°panoramic backgrounds and image-based lighting conditions to your SketchUp models. The Environments panel is where you can add and manipulate environments, or import High Dynamic Range Image (HDRI) files or OpenEXR files to create a new environment.

Attributes make components dynamic by telling SketchUp what to do. You can choose from predefined attributes or create custom attributes:
