This page provides information about the Sound source in Enscape for Revit.

Overview

Revit supports the ability to place Enscape sound sources in your projects, which can add sound to your live walk-throughs, standalone exports, and videos. You can use any .wav, .mp3, .ogg, .flac, or .raw sound file, which is looped. There is no length or size limit to these files. When sound is enabled, it gets quieter the farther away you are from the source, but it is not affected by geometry. Enscape’s sound simulation is rather processor-heavy, so if your project is too large or detailed, it may cause a crash. We recommend to avoid using too many sound sources at once.

To include a sound source in your Enscape standalone export, enable it prior to exporting. It is not possible to remove or disable the sound in a standalone if it was exported with sound. To include sound in videos created in Enscape, sound must also be enabled prior to export.

Placing a Sound Source in Revit

To add a sound source in Revit, click the Place Sound Source button in the Enscape ribbon.

• Place Sound Source (on Selected Face) – Click once to select the face the source should be placed on, and click a second time to select the endpoint of the source.
• Place Sound Source (on Active Work Plane) – Click once to place the source on the Work Plane that has been pre-specified in Revit.

This opens a dialog requesting that you specify the sound file you would like to use. By default, Enscape opens the location of the sound files. You are free to choose your own sound files.

Once you have selected your sound file, it's simply a case of choosing the location within the project you would like the sound source to be placed.

Once the sound source is placed, you can adjust or replace it as desired. When you select the sound source in your view, you can edit these settings via the Properties menu in Revit. The Full Volume setting defines the distance from the sound source (in meters) at which the sound is played at its full volume. Outside this radius, the sound fades until it reaches the distance defined in the Zero Volume setting, at which distance the sound stops playing altogether. When the Full and Zero Volume values are the same, the sound starts or stops immediately when you enter or exit the radius of the circle.

Enabling Sound

Enscape needs to be running to access the options to enable / disable the sound source, as well as to hide or show the sound source in the Enscape viewport.

If the sound icon is visible in Enscape when a Standalone Executable file is exported, the sound sources will be visible in the exported file. It is not possible to hide the sound sources from inside the Standalone Executable. Sound sources are never visible in exported screenshots, videos, Web Standalone files, or panoramas.
