This article provides IT Administrators with guidance on configuring and managing simultaneous user sessions across multiple OS accounts on shared machines running Enscape.

Overview

Enscape supports simultaneous user sessions on shared machines, allowing multiple OS accounts on the same system to run Enscape independently and concurrently. As of Cosmos v.2026.3.25.1000, Cosmos supports multi-user environments without requiring per-account installation.

Cosmos

Cosmos supports simultaneous user sessions on shared machines. As of Cosmos v.2026.3.25.1000, no per-account installation is required.

All accounts on the same machine access Cosmos without additional setup. It is recommended to configure a shared Cosmos asset folder to avoid redundant downloads and reduce disk usage.

Assets Folder

Configure all accounts on the same machine to use a shared Cosmos asset folder. Assets download once and remain available to all accounts on the system.

The Cosmos asset folder can be configured through the Cosmos UI or via post-install scripts for IT-managed environments.

For step-by-step instructions, see the Cosmos documentation.

Set the Cosmos asset path for each account to the same local directory:

  • Windows: C:\EnscapeSharedAssets
  • macOS: /Shared/EnscapeAssets

By default, each OS account maintains a separate assets folder. On shared machines, this results in duplicate downloads per account and increased disk usage.

Cloud Client

The Chaos Cloud Client is required to use the 3D Streaming feature, which uploads and shares Enscape scenes through Chaos Cloud.

The client installs per OS account on both Windows and macOS. No system-wide installation is available.

Install the Chaos Cloud Client by:

Known Limitations

If a shared Cosmos asset folder is not configured, each OS account downloads assets separately. This increases disk usage and duplicates content across accounts.

CAD Plugin Registration Limitations

Windows

Enscape installs into machine-wide directories for all supported CAD applications. A single installation is sufficient, and newly created OS accounts automatically have access to the plugins.

macOS

Enscape installs into machine-wide directories for:

  • Vectorworks
  • SketchUp

For the following applications, installation is required per OS account:

  • Rhino
  • Archicad
